Yesterday was the shoot at Nono's Italian Restaurant in Altamonte Springs for a podcast series known as "Signature Chefs of Orlando".
This was my first ever on location shoot since being in class for a little less than a month.
It was shocking to be put into a shoot so soon, but I found it to be a great experience and I felt prepared enough to do my job.
I was assigned to be on Camera 1 which was the main stationary camera that would shoot Lenny, the chef, and his audio. I didn't have to do much camera movement, but I really had to make sure that my camera was stable, properly white balanced, and framed correctly which are of course the utmost basic settings that all cameramen should be paying attention to.
As for the shoot itself, it went rather smoothly. Despite the fact that our teacher didn't bring the camera batteries, it was good. I thought I was going crazy when I didn't see any camera batteries so we notified our teacher and he went to get them. The talent, Chef Lenny, did mess up a few times, but that is to be expected because he isn't a professional so it wasn't that much of an issue. We just reassured him and kept going.
Even though there were these setbacks, my class and I (the crew) made sure to quickly get things together, complete the video, and eat the delicious food provided.
Below are a couple of photos from the shoot.
(None of these photos were taken by me.)
